Rookies Ekhaya FC moved joint level on points with second placed Mighty Wanderers following a comfortable 2-0 home victory over Karonga United at Kamuzu stadium.
Forwards Chimwemwe Yasin and Clever Chikwata scored on either side of the half to ensure that the cowboys collect home maximum points.
Ekhaya had a bad outing last time out going down 1-0 away to Kamuzu Barracks and Wednesday’s victory should surely put a smile on the face of head coach Enos Chatama.
Forward Chimwemwe Yasin put the hosts ahead on 7 minutes after he was set up by striking partner Clever Chikwata and Yasin was quick to reach the ball beating the helpless McLean Mwale in goal for Karonga.
Both teams then made substitutions before half time with Ekhaya withdrawing James Lumbe for Innocent Msowoya on 35 minutes while Robert Luhanga replaced Allen Chihana on 37 minutes for Karonga who was nursing an injury.
Despite the substitutions the first half finished 1-0 in front of the hosts.
Karonga United came a changed side in the second creating several scoring opportunities but Ekhaya goalie Elias Missi was on guard to clear any danger.
With the game destined for a 1-0 victory for the hosts, forward Clever Chikwata turned from provider to scorer deep into added time to guarantee Chatama of all the 3 points and that victory elevates the cowboys to 12 points from 6 games averaging 2 points per game.
