4 TEAMS CHANGE COACHES IN 2025 SEASON FIRST QUARTER

With the TNM Super League 2025 entering into its second quarter, 4 teams have already rang the changes in their managerial set up after a string of poor results.

This has already surpassed the half mark of the total number of Managerial changes made in the 2024 season which saw 7 teams(Mighty Wanderers, Creck Sporting, Fomo FC, Chitipa United, Bangwe United, Mzuzu City Hammers and Baka City) changing coaches.

Bottom placed Songwe Boarder were the first to start the hunt for a new coach this season after a poor run of form which saw them go 4 games without a win and seasoned coach Christopher Nyambose was roped in to save the sinking ship replacing Enock Mhone who was redeployed as Assistant Coach.

However things haven’t gone according to plan as the team has only managed a single point in 5 matches which Nyambose has presided over and the club still occupy bottom position after 9 games.

Another managerial change has been recorded at Dedza Dynamos where homeboy Andrew Bunya was let go after a run of poor results and now the team occupy position 7 with 13 points after 9 games.

Lilongwe’s Creck Sporting, running out of patience with their coach Joseph Kamwendo had no option but to let the former Flames star go after the team managed only a single win in 5 games and his second assistant Harry Saidi was place in temporary charge before former Blue Eagles FC head Coach Eliah Kanani was unveiled as the new gaffer.

Second from bottom side Mzuzu City Hammers have also parted ways with Coach Steve Nkwinika and he is yet to be replaced with the assistant coach Luckson Nyoni acting as head coach.

These early Managerial changes have intensified competition in the league at this early stage of the season.

For instance, the 2 top teams FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Wanderers have a chance of bettering last season’s points tally at the top of the log table after 10 matches.

Last season, leaders Silver Strikers had amassed 26 points from 10 games and this season Bullets have a chance of bettering that record with one point if they win their next 2 matches.

So too second placed Mighty Wanderers have a chance of beating that points tally with three points if they collect maximum points in their remaining 3 fixtures to hit the 10-game mark.

For Creck sporting though it’s confirmed that they will not beat their last season’s record points tally after 10 games as by this stage last season they had collected 15 points but this season the maximum they can reach after 10 games is 14 points that is if they are going to triumph in their next game.

Another Lilongwe based side Civil United will also fail to better its last season’s tally as the maximum it can go after 10 games will be 12 points, 2 shy of last season’s tally at the same stage of the season.

Bottom placed Songwe Boarder United also risk failing to beat the record set by last season’s occupant of that position at this stage of the season, as by week 10 Baka City had collected 4 points while Songwe currently have one point with 9 games played.

Overall, teams will have a better chance of beating last season’s total tally of goals scored in 80 matches played by close of week 10.

Currently, despite hitting week 10, teams have only played 64 games scoring a total of 144 goals averaging 2.25 goals per game against last season’s 179 goals in 80 games averaging 2.23 goals per game.
