RECORD BREAKERS

Bullets break 5 year ‘double‘ jinx over Silver

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets’ win over Silver Strikers on Sunday will go down in record books as it was the first time that the People’s team has beaten the Central Bankers home and away in the league in 5 years.

On Sunday Bullets came from behind to claim all maximum points with goals from substitutes Hassan Kajoke and Ephraim Kondowe cancelling out silver’s opener from Andrew Joseph.

Over the past 5 seasons the 2 sides have been having an equal share of points in most outings with one winning at home and drawing away or winning at home and losing away.

For instance, in 2024 Bullets failed to beat Silver as the Central Bankers won away in Blantyre and forced a draw at home in the second round while in 2023 both matches ended in draw.

In 2021 both teams made sure of home ground advantage as Bullets won at home while Silver did the same at area 47.

Bullets’ last dominance over the current defending champions was in 2019 when the People’s team won 0-1 away and 3-1 at home.

This season’s double victory over the Bankers has cemented Bullets’ grip at top position as now the people’s team have opened up a 10 point gap over Silver in third position and 4 over second placed Mighty Wanderers but both
Silver and Wanderers have a game in hand.

Silver now have a huge task of forcing their way back into title contention and defend the championship which they won last year.
