Matchweek 26 produces 3 hat-tricks
Luke Chima became the first player to score a hat-trick this season as his 3 goals inspired relegation threatened Goshen City Dedza Dynamos to victory over relegated Songwe Boarder.
After 26 weeks of action, finally someone had to bag home the matchball and Chima was the first to claim it on a weekend that rained goals in the top
flight league.
While Chima was claiming his matchball at Karonga Stadium, elsewhere at Kamuzu Stadium it was a 2 man show between Chikumbutso Salima of FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Chikaiko Batson of Civil Service United.
Salima was the first to claim his hat-trick in the first half as Bullets wrestled for victory but Batison couldn’t just let Salima claim the accolade
as he singlehandedly led Civil’s attacking scoring all the 3 goals in a 7 goal thriller.
Batison’s hat-trick however couldn’t inspire his side to victory as Abbas Makawa’s men went down 4-3 to the hosts.
He becomes the first player in as many years to score a hat-trick but still end up on the losing side.
As for Salima, his hat-trick has enhanced his chances of claiming the golden boot as he has now taken his tally of goals to 12.
