2 HORSE RACE

The race to the 2025 TNM Super League title will now go down to domestic rivals Mighty Wanderers and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets following results of yesterday’s matches.

Leaders Mighty Wanderers labored to a 1-0 home victory against Civil Service United courtesy of an own goal from Charles Mafaiti.

While Wanderers were sweating to victory at Kamuzu Stadium, there neighbors FCB Nyasa Big Bullets were cruising to victory over Ekhaya FC at Mpira Stadium.

Strikers Ephraim Kondowe and Maxwell Phodo were on target for Peter Mponda’s boys to ensure that the people’s team bag home all maximum points.

Elsewhere in Karonga, defending champions Silver Strikers saw their chances of defending the title slip away as they came behind to force a draw against Karonga United.

Alfred Chizinga gave the hosts the lead before Stain Dave levelled matters to ensure that the Central Bankers did not succumb to defeat.

With yesterday’s results, all what Mighty Wanderers need is 4 points in their remaining 2 games against a rejuvenated Moyale Barracks and Kamuzu Barracks.

With 4 points, Wanderers will finish the league with 69 points while their closest contenders FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, can only go as high as 68 points with victory in their remaining 2 games against Mzuzu City Hammers and Mighty Tigers.

Silver Strikers have made work difficult for themselves after yesterday’s draw away to Karonga United.

The Bankers’ points tally would be 66 points if they win their remaining 3 games.

The Bankers can only pray for a miracle if they are to win the championship.

So mathematically, the Bankers are in it but realistically their chances are slender.

With 2 Matchweeks left to play, Mighty Wanderers stand high on chances of winning the league.

All what Bob Mpinganjira boys must do is to avoid defeat in their remaining 2 games.
