Straight from an action packed weekend, action in the TNM Super League returns this weekend with fixtures spread across the 3 regions.
Dedza Dynamos made history for themselves on Match week 1 as they were the highest scorers putting 4 goals past Creck Sporting and also became the first team to score the fastest goals of the season(scoring with a minute).
Attacker Khumbo Banda set his own record as well as he provided 3 assists in that 1-4 demolition of Creck Sporting and all those 3 assists from set pieces. It was a game never short of tempers as it produced 5 yellow cards making it the highest numbers of cautions flashed out in a single match of week one.
Andrew Bunya’s side return to action on Sunday to face Mzuzu City Hammers as we open Match week two with a clash involving Defending Champions Silver Strikers against Chitipa United at Karonga Stadium in 2 of Saturday’s fixtures.
It’s a clash of 2 wounded buffaloes as both teams are smarting from defeats from Match day week one. The Central Bankers were humbled by Nyasa Big Bullets 0-1 at Bingu Stadium in this season’s launch match while Chitipa United went down 1-0 to MAFCO at Chitowe Stadium.

For Silver, it was a bad start as they aim to defend the Championship which they won after 11 years while for Chitipa defeat on Match week one just complicated matters for themselves having finished the 2024 season on a low note as they survived relegation on the last day of the season.
Silver Coach Peter Mgangira is in search for his first Super League win having taken over the mantle from Peter Mponda (now with Nyasa Big Bullets) who guided the Central Bankers to championship glory after 11 years.
If the Central Bankers want to get a result in Karonga they will have to improve from last Saturday’s performance against Bullets as they failed to produce a shot on target same with their opponent who fired blanks at Chitowe.

At Nankhaka Stadium two new entrants Blue Eagles and Songwe Boarder United square up in search for their first points of the season having been casualties of Match week one.
Blue Eagles, making a return to top flight football after a season in the lower league were clobbered 3-1 at Kamuzu Stadium by Mighty Wanderers while Songwe’s reception to top flight football was done by Moyale at Karonga Stadium.
Match week one record makers Dedza Dynamos are back in action on Sunday as they host Mzuzu City Hammers.
It’s a fixture of two teams coming from contrasting fortunes. Dedza’s morale is high having beaten Creck Sporting 1-4 on Sunday while the Hammers are coming from a shocking 1-3 home defeat against Kamuzu Barracks.
New Hammers coach Steve Nkwinika will have to prove to his bosses that he is the right man for the job having inherited s team that finished on position 4 last season. For Bunya his charges are buoyed by last weekend’s win and they will be aiming at giving the home fans maximum points having collected their first 3 points of the season away.
At Kamuzu Stadium Mighty Tigers will be hoping to recover from last Saturday’s defeat at the hands of debutants Ekhaya FC as they play host to 2024 runners up Mighty Wanderers. Coach Leo Mpulula will obviously ring changes to the squad that was humbled 2-0 by Ekhaya FC while for Mighty Wanderers coach Bob Mpinganjira will be hoping that his troops build on last Sunday’s impressive home performance in which they saw off the returning Blue Eagles FC by 3 goals to 1.
Elsewhere at Champion Stadium in Mponela it’s a friendly forces affair as Kamuzu Barracks straight from their 1-3 triumph over Mzuzu City Hammers welcome Moyale Barracks who too are coming from victory having collected maximum points over debutants Songwe Boarder.
We finish action on Sunday from Karonga Stadium where hosts Karonga United welcome MAFCO FC. Both teams are coming from a successful weekend in which they collected maximum points in which the host bagged maximum points on the road against Civil FC while MAFCO were at home against Songwe Boarder.
Sunday’s clash will have to separate boys from men as both teams will be aiming for maximum points. Match week one produced one penalty and one red card whilst Dedza Dynamos clash against Creck Sporting produced the highest number of yellow cards (5) as well as goals (5).
Records will have to be broken in Match week two as the battle for maximum points intensifies.
