BT Derby Set Pace

On Saturday 1st July 2023 the Blantyre derby between Mighty Mukuru Wanderers and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets played at capacity-reduced Kamuzu Stadium underlined its top billing by grossing  MWK 56,429,660.00.

Essentially, this has become the highest gross from all TNM Super League games and other domestic competitions played in the country this calendar year.

The development comes on the heels of SULOM boss Fleetwood Haiya emphasizing his manifesto promise that “we will maximise on gate revenue by improving gate management
systems, from inception to execution, to minimise gate fraud.”

As a result of the efficient organisation for the fixture, both teams went home with MWK 11,850,229.70 each.

The fixture was shrouded in controversy over the venue but ended up becoming a success story without any incidents where teams got value for their investment in line with the new SULOM’s strategic direction of operating in the best interest of its affiliates.

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers are on position 3 with 19 points while FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Bullets are occupying second position with 22 points after 11 games each.
