CRECK CAN’T CLICK

Creck sporting’s slow start to the season continued as they were held to a goalless draw at home by Kamuzu Barracks on Wednesday afternoon at Aubrey Dimba ground.

Heading into the match, Creck were occupying second place from the bottom and were coming into the match hoping that this week’s managerial changes would ignite a new lease of life.

Head coach Joseph Kamwendo and his assistant Abel Mkandawire have been placed on indefinite suspension following a string of poor results and interim coach Harry Saidi saw his charges fail to breakdown a Kamuzu Barracks defence.

On his first day in charge, Coach Harry Saidi made several changes to the squad that succumbed to defeat to Mighty Wanderers over the weekend with notable changes being the recalling of Goalkeeper Brighton Munthali and defender Miracle Gabeya back into the first eleven.

Kamuzu Barracks were the first to threaten in front of goal when their top goal scorer this season Zeliat Nkhoma was put through by Jauma Edward on 11 minutes but the forward lacked composure just near the goal post.

Creck’s first chance of the match fell to Arnold Kiyama on 25 minutes but his freekick just outside the box went over the crossbar.

KB Goalie Hastings Banda was then called into action on 38 minutes when he dealt with a dangerous George Chaomba strike.

With just a minute to go before halftime, the yellow submarines brought on forward John Mchema for Sammy Chaponda but 0-0 is how the first half would finish.

Creck Coach Harry Saidi sensing danger made a double substitution at the start of the second half introducing Stain Patrick for Ademola Ajibola while Patrick Mpazi was brought in for Babangida Ishaya.

With over 25 minutes played into the second half, KB Coach Nicholas Mhango withdrew his talisman Zeliat Nkhoma for defending midfielder Sam Gunda a move one would conclude was meant to stabilise the midfield to thwart Creck’s attacking threats.

Mpazi’s introduction for Creck upped the tempo but the team lacked the finishing touch inside the box.

The visitors were reduced to 10 men at 83 minutes when Shuiten Mhango was shown a second yellow card for a bookable offence having been booked already few minutes earlier.

0-0 is how it would finish.

The result means Creck have now moved just 2 places from bottom place with 5 points from 6 games.
