Debutants Ekhaya FC missed out on a chance to move level with table toppers FCB Nyasa Big Bullets as Enos Chatama’s charges succumbed to a 1-0 away defeat to Kamuzu Barracks.
Forward Zeliat Nkhoma was the toast of the day as his first half extra time strike from a John Mchema assist was enough to grant the Chioko boys all the much-needed points.
The Chioko boys have not had a perfect start to the season having won twice and drawn twice and Saturdays’ victory should come as a sigh of relief to head coach Nicholas Mhango who took over from Charles Kamanga at the start of the season.
Heading into this match Ekhaya had all the chances of moving joint level on points with Bullets but defeat means Enos Chatama’s troops have noow suffered their second loss since assuming top flight football status.
Following that victory Kamuzu Barracks have now moved into third place with nine points from 5 games while Ekhaya now occupy fourth position from the same number of games
