For every footballer, scoring a hat-trick brings a unique sense of achievement and fulfillment. It is a rare and special feat that deserves
its place in the records of any match.
However, heading into Match Week 13, the 2025 TNM Super League season is yet to witness a single hat-trick.
So far, 85 games have been played and 188 goals scored, but none of those goals have come in sets of three from a single player. This marks a stark
contrast to last season, when Chitipa United striker Ramadhan Mtafu netted the campaign’s first hat-trick on the second weekend.
Despite the drought, the 2025 season has seen an uptick in the number of braces. By the end of Match Week 12, 14 braces had been recorded, the first of which came from Kamuzu Barracks forward Zeliat Nkhoma during the opening weekend.
In comparison, last season saw 12 braces by Week 12, with the first arriving in Match Week 2.
Meanwhile, the Golden Boot race is heating up. FCB Nyasa Big Bullets striker Babatunde Adepoju leads the chase with 7 goals. Breathing down his neck on 5 goals is teammate Chikumbutso Salima alongside Zeliati Nkhoma of Kamuzu Barracks, Gray Msowoya of Mighty Tigers and Wise Dinho Mpinganjira of Mighty Wanderers.
The race for the top scorer’s crown is in full swing — but the wait for the season’s first hat-trick continues
