LIVING HIS MOMENT

Festus Duwe takes Area 47 by storm

Football is a game full of emotions. Emotions can come because of a last-minute winner in a cup final or the other way round.

Emotions can also emanate from a team facing relegation on the last day of the season.

However, nothing hurts more to see your top player switching allegiance to join your cross-town rivals.

The 2025 local transfer window witnessed such painful moment for Civil United who failed to secure the services of their top goal scorer Festus Duwe after the expiry of his loan deal from Ascent Academy.

Duwe made a name for himself in the yellow and green colours at area 9 but time had to come for him to move and his next destination would be area 47 in the den of Civil’s bitter rivals Silver Strikers.

With 7 games played in the league, Duwe has become a darling for the Bankers’ faithful scoring all the important goals (3) with the latest one being an opener in the 2-0 win over his former team and was named Silver’s player of the month for April.

But how is he settling at area 47?

This and other questions are what our media crew posed to the diminutive but gifted attacker in our latest chat.

How are you settling in at Silver Strikers?

It is always hard to settle quickly when you are new to a team but I found it easier because I already had a good chemistry with some of the players before joining them.

It’s like you getting the goals for fun, how does it feel?

Am just utilizing any single chance am getting every game as the coach always tell me chances are going to come and I don’t have to waste any scoring opportunities that’s what keeps me motivated

Do you consider yourself as the man of the moment?

Am just happy and enjoying myself playing I can’t consider myself man of the moment yet

How did you feel scoring in your maiden derby?

I felt so much more confident delivering on that big stage, it was a great feeling.

What’s your target as a player?

My target is to help Silver Strikers win trophies

Your best friend at Silver?
