NYAMBOSE’s MAGIC

Songwe earn 1st super league point

Newly appointed Songwe Boarder head coach Christopher Nyambose began life at the struggling super league debutants with a 1-1 draw away to Mzuzu City Hammers as the Boarder boys earned their first point in top flight football.

Prior to the match, Songwe had gone 4 matches without a win and Sunday’s draw marked a new lease of life for head coach Nyambose who took over from Enoch Mhone earlier in the week.

Mzuzu City Hammers took the lead on the 29th minute courtesy of a Gerald Ngwira strike and that’s how the scores would be going into recess.

Coach Christopher Nyambose made changes in the second half and those changes proved vital.

Mathews Kumwenda, Jeffrey Munthali and Festus Chikwezga replaced Mussa Mwampope, Steve Leonard and Clement Chiwato and it did not come as a surprise as on 63 minutes  Lusekero Kishombe levelled matters for the visitors.

Prior to the goal, the Hammers were reduced to 10 men after Samuel Amos was sent off for an early shower following a second bookable offence.

1-1 is how it would stay until the final whistle.

Despite earning their first point of the season, Songwe are still rooted at the bottom of the log table with a single point from 5 games while as for Mzuzu City Hammers they too are in the relegation zone on position 14 with 4 points from 4 games.
