The Super League of Malawi would like to provide an update on the outstanding disciplinary cases. SULOM would like to further condemn in the strongest terms all acts of violence and hooliganism. Such barbaric acts are detrimental to football development. SULOM reiterate its commitment towards the elimination violence at football matches to safeguard the integrity of the League and the beautiful game of football. To this end, SULOM wishes to update all football loving Malawians of the following cases:
Case 1
Ekwendeni Hammers FC vs Blue Eagles FC
Ekwendeni Hammers FC vs Blue Eagles FC case has been finalized and a determination was assed. Blue Eagles FC, Players and officials were found guilty and were fined a total of MK4.5 Million. Ranken Mwale was given a four-match ban. Chimwemwe Chitedze was acquitted for want of evidence.
Case 2
Silver Strikers FC vs Dedza Dynamos Salima Sugar FC (Match played on 16 September
2023 at Champion Stadium).
Silver Strikers FC has been charged with three counts of bringing the game and name of sponsor into disrepute, improper conduct of its supporters, pitch invasion and conduct likely to cause breach of peace. The matter is currently before the SULOM Disciplinary Committee
Case 3
MAFCO FC vs Dedza Dynamos Salima Sugar FC
Investigations on this case have been finalized. The Matter has been referred to the SULOM Disciplinary Committee.
Case 4
Moyale Barracks FC vs Civil Service United FC
Moyale Barracks FC was found guilty of featuring a suspended player, Clifford Chimulambe. Consequently, respectively Moyale barracks loses the match by 0-3 and is fined. The player was also found guilty of featuring in an official match while serving suspension.
Case 5
Extreme FC vs FCB Nyasa Big Bullets FC
During the match, a FCB Nyasa Big Bullets FC supporter invaded the pitch and consequently the team is charged of pitch invasion. The Matter has been referred to the SULOM Disciplinary Committee.
Case 6
Dedza Dynamos Salima Sugar FC vs Moyale Barracks FC
Investigations on this case have been finalized. The Matter has been referred to the SULOM Disciplinary Committee.
