RACE TO INDIVIDUAL ACCOLADES

While the TNM super league championship seems to be a 2 horse race, there is also an exciting aspect towards the end of the season especially on the golden boot award where FCB Nyasa Big Bullets duo of Babatunde Adepoju and Chikumbutso Salima now lie tied on 13 goals.

With 2 games to go, Babatunde and Salima have a deficit of 4 goals to meet last season’s record where Isaac Kaliati of Mighty Wanderers won the accolade with 17 goals.

For Baba, he will be aiming to win the accolade for the second time as he also won it in 2022, while for Salima this is his breakthrough season as he also tops the assists chart and if he wins the top goal scorer award it will be an icing on the cake of what has been a perfect season for him.

Breathing down Baba and Salima is Kamuzu Barracks’ Zeliati who also stands a chance of bagging home the award as he currently has 12 goals.

The chase for the golden glove now seems to be all but over as Mighty Wanderers goalie Dalitso Khungwa has raced away with it having kept 16 clean sheets and is on course of equaling last season’s record of 18 by Silver Strikers shot stopper George Chikooka.

All what Khungwa needs to do is to avoid conceding in the remaining 2 fixtures against Moyale Barracks and Kamuzu Barracks, and so he will equal Chikooka’s record.

With 16 clean sheets, Khungwa has high chance of clinching the Golden glove for this season as his closest contenders George Chikooka of Silver Strikers (13),

Jacob Anyandwile of Chitipa United (12) and Civil’s Rahman John (12) cannot match his tally of accumulated clean sheets so far.
