STILL OPEN

The race for the TNM Super League championship is heading right down to the wire following Sunday afternoon’s results, which saw table-toppers FCB
Nyasa Big Bullets fall 2-0 to Creck Sporting, while Mighty Wanderers were held to a goalless draw by Chitipa United.

Wanderers, who still have a game in hand, had the opportunity to move top of the log with a win in Chitipa after Bullets’ slip-up in Mchinji. However, Bob Mpinganjira’s men will spend Matchweek 27 in second place on goal difference, having amassed 56 points from 24 games, the same tally as Bullets, who hold a superior goal difference.

Bullets, on the other hand, were second best throughout the afternoon as a spirited Creck Sporting side dominated proceedings at Aubrey Dimba Stadium. Goals from George Chaomba and Jack Beza ensured Eliah Kananji claimed maximum points against a club he managed six years ago.

In Lilongwe, defending champions Silver Strikers secured the Capital City bragging rights with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over neighbours Civil Service United. Defender Innocent Shema was the hero of the day, with his solitary strike proving decisive.

In Sunday’s other fixture, Goshen City Dedza Dynamos boosted their survival hopes with a crucial 2-1 win over fellow relegation candidates MAFCO FC. Goals
from George Mboma and Chifuniro Mpinganjira sealed the victory, while MAFCO’s consolation came through Chifundo Molosoni.
