TNM Plc increases Malawi’s elite league sponsorship by 233 percent

Telecom Network Malawi (TNM) Plc sponsor of the TNM Super League, has announced an increment in sponsorship by a whopping 233 percent.

The league will now be sponsored to the tune of K500 million from K150 million last season.

Chief Executive Officer of the mobile phone network company Michel Hebert announced this last night during the sponsorship unveiling ceremony in the commercial city of Blantyre.

“As a company, we love Malawi football. We have sponsored the league for close to two decades now. We want to see teams benefiting,” he said.

Super League of Malawi President, Colonel Gilbert Mitawa was delighted by the new sponsorship deal.

“Telecom Networks Malawi has not only tripled the package that we asked for but also added some incentives on top of what we had requested. The deal will indeed help us Revive, Reform, and Rebrand the league”, Mitawa said.

From the package, K176 million will be channeled towards the team’s prizes with the Champion walking away with a whooping K100 million. The runners up in the team category gets K40,000,000.00 while third place pocket K30,000,000.00. There will be K4,000,000.00 prize money to the most improved team.
A total of K160 million goes towards club’s subventions where each of the 16 clubs will be receiving K10 million per season.

TNM has also earmarked K10 million towards individual awards. They include the player of the season, top goal scorer, best defender, midfielder, goalkeeper, coach and rookie of the season. The player of the season and the top goal scorer receive K3,000,000.00 and K2,000,000.00 respectively while the rest of the categories walk away with K1,000,000.00.
The men in black on the field, the referees, will be recognized as a set, getting a prize money of K1,200,000.00.

A new comer to the category is the most disciplined supporters who will be receiving a million kwacha.
