Dedza, CRECK share spoils

Match Report:

Gift Magola denied Vincent Nyangulu from capping off his debut with a winning goal as Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos Football Club and CRECK Sporting Club shared spoils at Dedza Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Nyangulu scored for Macdonald Nginde Mtetemera’s side deep inside the second half but Magola did not allow euphoria to settle in the visitors as his screamer five minutes later settled the scores.

CRECK Sporting Club blew the chance of pipping Mzuzu City Hammers who were beaten by Karonga United on Saturday in Mzuzu to go third- they currently remain 4th with 30 points from 19 games while Andrew Bunya’s side are 11th with 24 points outings.

Off the back of claiming one win in their last four games, Dedza Dynamos were hoping to record two consecutive wins and plot revenge on CRECK Sporting Club who beat them 2-0 in Mchinji in the reverse match. They were coming from a narrow 1-0 win over TNM Super League rookies, Friends of Mulanje Orphans, FOMO Football Club.

Returning from his sabbatical suspension, Macdonald Nginde Mtetemera was in high spirits, dreaming of becoming the first team to claim three points at Dedza Stadium against Dedza Dynamos since Mighty Mukuru Wanderers on October 22, 2023.

Despite CRECK Sporting starting the game slightly better than Dedza, the hosts created good chances only for their profligacy to bail the visitors out. Chifuniro Mpinganjira’s header went marginally wide after a beautiful delivery from Joseph Balakasi.

CRECK Sporting dominated the game in the first moments but Dedza Dynamos took away their dominance to threaten them towards the end of the first round with Chris Lwemba making a goal-line clearance after the goal-keeper was already beaten.

Hoping to add more power in his team, Nginde made two changes four minutes into the second half as he sent Yamikani Tambala and Ademora Ajibola into the fray for Harvey Nasiyaya and Akuzike Lifa while Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos FC have introduced Promise Kamwendo and Justine Honde, replacing Rodwell Robert and Victor Lungu.

CRECK Sporting upped their intensity in the game and they were a threat. Nyangulu used his lethality in front of goal. They attacked through George Chaomba who won a free-kick after being fouled by Balakasi just outside the penalty area. Hadji Wali played his free-kick direct to the former Wanderers striker who bundled it home for the visitors to take the lead.

Dedza Dynamos kept on ticking from the first whistle and they were powered by Magola. The midfielder capped off his performance with a fantastic screamer to earn a point for Dedza. He scored against FOMO, and he also scored against CRECK. His screamer from the edge of the penalty area, connecting home Edward Dakalira’s ball.

The draw means that Dedza Dynamos are unbeaten at home this season after playing 11 matches, chalking 6 wins and five draws. They will have to embrace the challenge as they visit Silver Strikers in their next assignment before facing Civil Service United at home.

The draw ended CRECK Sporting Club’s three-game winning streak and they are still struggling to win games away from home. They have just recorded one win from nine games on the road, five draws and three defeats. They are facing Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in their next home game before traveling to Mzuzu to face Moyale Barracks.
